HOW TO - BASICS ?

To get started with using your new IOP hosting account, you'll need an explanation of the basic process of getting your Web site up and running. we will discuss domain names, how they work, adn where to get them. If you have a domain name already, then you will need to set the so called nameservers for this domain to point to our servers - you do this at the registrar where you registered the domain name.

What is a "Domain Name" ?
A domain name is an address. It is the URL. It is also known as your website address. An example of a domain name is myIOP.com.

What does it do?
A domain name is more like a map than anything else. It tells computers where to go to find your site. For example, when your computer tries to go to www.myIOP.com, the request is sent through your internet service provider's DNS (domain name server) Database. So your web browser (the program you surf the web with) sends a request to go to www.myIOP.com. Your ISP checks their DNS Database and finds that the domain name of www.myIOP.com really points to IOP's webhosting. It then takes your browser to the correct hosted website.

What is a registrar?
A registrar is a company that registers any available domain name for you. If you did not register a domain name yet, you can do this at our own registrar www.DNbulk.com .

Nameserver settings of your domain:
You need to update your name servers at the regstrar where your registered your domain name. This part of the setup is crucial to the proper set up of your domain.
You have to use the following name servers:

Name servers for IOP Server: COM-SECURE:
primary nameserver: NS1.COM-SECURE.com
secondary nameserver: NS2.COM-SECURE.com

Nameservers for IOP Server: RN3:
primary nameserver: NS1.RN3.com
secondary nameserver: NS2.RN3.com
